When I was struggling with my own weight and eating habits, I wasn’t remotely interested in my relationship with food. I just wanted the weight off and didn’t really care how it happened.
But lasting change came when I started to understand where I struggled with food, and why I was eating the way I was. When you look at this in an honest, compassionate way, you finally become free to make permanent changes to how you eat.
I’m talking about those times when:
You feel a pang of hunger and before you know it, you’ve emptied the fridge.
You experience uncomfortable emotions and feel an almost automatic urge to turn to food to feel better.
You’ve lost weight, and for reasons you can’t explain, you find yourself slipping back into old eating habits.
These are all signs that your relationship with food is off track and needs attention so you can find more balance.
So how do you create a relationship with food that allows you to make the choices you want to make, again and again?
It’s not by going on another diet or adding more food rules you hope you’ll stick to. It’s by looking at the role food plays in your life, and what it gives you on an emotional level: comfort, distraction, relief, reward, or a way to cope with stress.
I offer one‑to‑one sessions and an online 8‑week group programme that gently explores and transforms your relationship with food. Together, we look at patterns like overeating, food cravings and emotional eating, and the stress and emotions that sit underneath them. The Online Group Program
The online group programme runs for eight weeks and includes a one‑hour live group session each week on Zoom. Each group is kept small, with a maximum of five participants, so there’s plenty of space for you to feel seen, heard and supported.
In week one, you’ll be introduced to Emotional Freedom Techniques, and shown how to use this tool to help with stress and uncomfortable emotions. In the following weeks, we explore different aspects of emotional eating, including food cravings, eating past the point of hunger, eating to avoid feelings such as sadness, frustration and loneliness, and more.
After each session, you’ll receive a follow‑up email with a summary of what we covered plus videos to watch between sessions, so you can keep building your understanding and confidence in using the tools. Many people find that doing this work in a group is particularly powerful; feeling like you’re in a battle with your eating habits can be lonely, but there is real solidarity and relief in sharing your experiences and realising you’re not alone.
I would highly recommend Maxine’s 8 week course. It helped me to separate food from emotions quite quickly which I have not been able to do using other methods.
